This winters project is something completely different for me, first chevy and first 40's car and first diesel.
I am sick of driving the PT for towing and parts chasing so this has to be diesel and powerful enough to pull a car transporter.
Sue bought it for me almost 2 years ago from Model T Haven and was finally deliverd home in January. Now I have finished my A Sedan and the garden has stopped growing it is 6 months of full speed building.
It is a big car and sits so high. notice the rear wheels how they sit 2" too far forward in the arches, this is standard!
The car had been rodded in the sixties with the fitting of an engine gearbox and rear axle from a V8 55 Chevy. I think it was actually used like this but the engineering was very agricultural to say the least.
Outer panels are good but the floor especially the boot is really bad.
The interior is complete but really grim rat shit and nests everywhere.
I have cleaned it out and have stripped the front end ready for a marathon build this weekend while Sue is away dancing.
Plans are for aftermarket independent front with Granada spindles and vented disks volvo 740 rear axle on lowered original springs with BMW 2.5 turbo diesel and manual box. Whole car lowered about 7".
I will update you next week hopefully with some good progress
